The bad news—and the hyperbolic—tell us we're making progress. The bad news is reactionary, and the hyperbolic is reaction to the reaction, unfortunate positive feedback. A charity which feeds sick people, and for which I chop carrots a couple of hours a week, hosted a drag show as a fundraiser. It's harmless, and the audience, oddly enough, was mostly women, gay and straight. The nude guy on his porch was unfortunate. The fear has to be that his nudity was a prelude to some kind of harm. My money says not, and that law shouldn't regulate taste. (Congress shall make no law regarding the establishment of corporeal esthetics.)
...and I've never noticed Anna Faris before, but she's really good.

Your take on nudist discrimination is a good one -- I've done a lot of advocacy for barefooting and have had to explain the difference between barefoot intolerance and more serious issues like racial discrimination. As with most things (unfortunately), these become intersectional problems. If you're already a minority in the U.S., for example, you'll likely have more trouble exercising your right to be nude or otherwise self-expression. Regardless of our interests / hobbies, we all need to work against systematic discrimination.

Re the item about being naked in one’s own home, I recall an item a few years back (sorry, no reference) about city apartment living, with one’s windows in viewing range of so many others. It made the point that neighbour nudity is commonplace, but that the accepted etiquette was diplomatic blindness to whatever went on “over there”. Perhaps it doesn’t apply in the ‘burbs.

I thoroughly enjoyed this post. The "Vogue" article about grief (and nudism) is lovely. And I intend to quote the woman who turned her home into naturist resort: ultimately "we're all just body parts."
